I’ve seen fire, and I’ve seen rain.
But sadly, there’s been a sad lack of sunny days (that I thought would never end).
The highlights of the weekend were cleaning the gutters of Elmwood Crescent in the rain, frying in the sun at the Big Day Out, and catching up on bushfire bulletins from my brother…
Elmwood is looking pretty spiffy – we have a pile of crap to still remove (by next Monday, when the agents come round – eek!) – timber work hopefully happens today, painting hopefully happens Thursday – it’s all a bit tight though.
The Big Day Out was fabulous – top ranking goes to Franz Ferdinand, though the Stooges, the White Stripes and the Hilltop Hoods were excellent too.
And Hall’s Gap is a mess – 47% of the Grampians have burned, from all accounts, and while the fire is under control, I’m rather anxious about how long it will take for the forest to grow back. Logically it will be fine, but emotionally, it’s part of my heartland that is burned beyond recognition. Even if it’s temporary, it hurts.
Lots of other stuff has happened, but I should get back to work. The current project is rather better than it looked at first – the politics such, but the technologies are at least interesting – more on this stuff in a future post.
