Back at work

As usual, I only get blogging when I’m at work… biggrin My managers are in a “resource planning” meeting, so I have no idea what I’m meant to do this week – next week I start back at a customer site, but I’m pretty sure they won’t want me sitting on my hands for the intervening week – not like I don’t have 1000 bits of research I could be doing in the meantime.

Christmas was relatively good, a big break from work was just what I needed, though the last chunk when I was going to work on paperwork and personal projects got eaten up by hunting for a rental, and running multiple tradespeople through the house getting quotes. Both of these tasks are calming down, however – we are going to commit to some tradespeople as soon as the next batch of quotes come in, and we put an application for a rental place on Saturday

update: just got a call from Ray White, the application was accepted – so that one is definitely out of the way! We will probably (pending paperwork being OK) be tenants at the lovely house at 29 Leigh St Oakleigh East. It’s a nice house, not perfect (we really wanted a californian bungalow in a leafy street close to the station…) but it certainly meets our needs, and means we can get on with the chaos of renovating and preparing our house for sale.

Tonnes of other stuff has happened – we had an extremely hot and sweaty New Year’s Eve, lots of fun though I did lose many SAN points. We had christmas split between Melbourne and Hall’s Gap, which was also very enjoyable. And my brain was sucked by Ultima 5 Lazarusexternal link – an insane project where a group of fans have spent the last 5 years re-writing Ultima 5 using the Dungeon Siege engine. The result is a game with the graphics of Dungeon Siege and the plot of Ultima 5 – truly wondrous. (you know, the plot of Dungeon Siege with the graphics of Ultima 5 gets you Rogue… smile )

Anyway, should get to work, that’s a very brief update to assuage my guilt of being blog-lazy.
