Relaxation and Illumination

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

Tomorrow marks the first official day of my week off.  T also managed to swing this week off.  I’m going to enjoy this Yesterday we managed to round up minxdragon and cainbits and finally get the four of us down to see the Illuminated Manuscripts exhibition at the State Library before it closed today.  It [...]

A Time For Mourning, and Resident Evil

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

Alas, weep for me, for today I became a Lego Widow. Over the past week I have come to believe that I am indeed evil (as both T and my mother have told me many times in the past), and it is starting to leak out.  On the weekend T and I caught up with [...]

It’s All Good

Saturday, March 1st, 2008

Things seem to be really picking up, not just for me but also for those around me.  I have my new job (which I’m absolutely loving), we have our new car (we do so love our Papa Smurf), and now T and I are engaged. In addition, we have friends getting jobs, a friend booked [...]

Back To Work

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008

After a glorious month off, I returned to work on New Year’s Day. I noticed the difference immediately – the work seemed easier and progressed more smoothly, and my superiors seemed to notice the difference too. I think the break was what I needed – I hadn’t had any holidays since February 2006, nearly 2 [...]

T is wonderful. That is all

Quick Summary

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007

With rotating shifts stealing my time (and my sanity), I can only sum up life of late, so: Transformers: FTW! Work: it’s always interesting to hear what people (especially your superiors) say when they’re not thinking … T: is wonderful   As are vintage fountain pens and sparkly things

Heartening and Disappointing

Saturday, January 6th, 2007

It was great to see so many people at Bunnings today looking for grey-water systems. Unfortunately demand far outstrips supply, with most of Bunnings’ supplies going to areas with Stage 4 water restrictions. But it made for a big crowd in aisle 21! T and I did manage to get some things to help – [...]

Ageing and mortality

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

Ageing is possibly the cruelist trick in life. Because modern medicine keeps us alive far beyond our used-by dates, so when we do die it can often be seen almost as a blessing. On Friday T and I are going to the funeral of his grandmother, who died in the early hours of Monday morning.

More long work hours

Monday, October 23rd, 2006

To add to my already heavy workload, I was called in to work Saturday night to cover someone who was off sick. Not happy about having my weekend taken away again! One of my colleagues had his laptop though, and we watched The Devil Wears Prada and Thank You For Smoking, both of which were [...]

Ghosts, deception, merging, citrus trees, bulb-digging, marriage

Thursday, July 27th, 2006

On Saturday T (being the angel he is) took me to see The Woman In Black at the Comedy Theatre. It was great! John Waters showed true versitility in the numerous characters he played throughout the show. If it weren’t for the fact that tomorrow night is the closing night, I’d recommend everyone to see [...]
