Back To Work

After a glorious month off, I returned to work on New Year’s Day. I noticed the difference immediately – the work seemed easier and progressed more smoothly, and my superiors seemed to notice the difference too. I think the break was what I needed – I hadn’t had any holidays since February 2006, nearly 2 years.

T and I had a brief holiday up at Walhalla. I can highly recommend the Star Hotel there. The rooms are comfortable, the food amazing, and the staff absolutely delightful. Lots of fun twisting mountain roads to get there and back! :-)

Our vegetable garden is progressing slowly but surely. We’re digging up small patches at a time, and what we’ve already put in the ground (potatoes, zucchini, capsicum and lettuces) are all thriving. Next to go in are the tomatoes. The front garden is looking rather overgrown right now. The past month or so it’s been very difficult to weed – either it’s been too hot and glaring to be outside, or it’s been bucketing rain. Still, it remains on the task list.

Christmas was FANTASTIC! It was the first Christmas I’d had off in 3 years (I worked the previous 2), and the whole family (including Nana) came down for Christmas lunch (yes, the oven was fixed in time!) T and I are still working our way through leftovers. I consumed an awful lot of alcohol through the day – not enough to get even tiddley, but obviously enough to get the reported mild hangover. T gave me a beautiful pewter-decorated pen and a faux-fur full-length cloak which is just amazing.

Oh yeah, and happy new year everybody!
